I think it can be said that while /a/ would allow everyone their view and opinion, but if you're to participate in discussion you are basically obliged to defend it and concede anything you believe to be wrong unless you can prove it somehow. Somehow I prefer reading /a/ or similar sites to more moderated, calm and unoffensive discussion groups.
