Soryu was the better overall character by a wide margin but I don't mind seeing an Asuka who's a bit more well-adjusted. I treat Rebuild as a whole as just some big what-if to the original series anyways so the depictions of the characters don't bother me too much, with the exception of Misato just because 3.0 made her dumb for no reason
If I had to give a specific thing I liked about Shikinami it would be her decision to pilot Unit 03 as a favor to Rei, while I didn't really like the love triangle subplot fucking up the elevator scene I do like seeing Asuka grow as a character throughout 2.0, supremely rushed as it was
