She'd probably try to draw a comic, realize her skills in drawing aren't great, then try just writing, and go from there.
I'd definitely read her work and help her improve her story as best as I could. Though I can't promise I wouldn't feel a little bit of second-hand embarrassment from some old shame in my memory from when I used to be a writing novice.
