He did not like Rem and thought she wasn't worthy of being a "Heroine" even though clearly in the source material she is (and maybe more of a main heroine than Emilia). So in the adaption she lost a lot of her scenes and effectively her character. If the author hated her character he simply wouldn't have written so much Rem stuff like all the side stories and written a full length LN about the what if scenario if Subaru and Rem ran away together in Ep 18.
>sabotage her constantlyA lot of that rhetoric comes from the WN to LN rewrite of Arc 4, Rem even though she is in coma she had some good scenes in the WN and most likely if you asked someone what their favorite scenes were, the Rem scenes would be one of them. When it was rewritten for the LN alot of those scenes were cut or simply rewritten to be shorter and have less impact. But the thing is literally everything in the LN is shitty compared to the WN, it wasn't just Rem that was hit hard by the cuts. In fact her biggest scene was 75% (maybe a little lower) intact, while other characters like Ram lost their big scenes. It's just people cared more about the Rem scenes and didn't hear about how literally every character was hit hard by the changes, even Emilia is shit compared to her WN counterpart. Either the author cannot rewrite things because of his writing style or the editors put extensive wrong input in or a combination of both those.
