>>2171898>>2171994I agree in part in the sense that the anime is a little more "moral" or moralizing at times, but yeah it's subtle, and you may overstate things a little. The manga can be very dark at times too, when Revy's past is mentioned it's always dark. And the anime isn't all that different, even if the anime director is slightly more of a moralfag than Rei Hiroe, most of the time the show still makes you want to live in Roanapur and be a part of the BL crew, at least it did for me. About Revy working as a stripper/dom, I didn't read the last chapter yet, but it seems to me that at least in the first scene in Rowan's club in early chapters, Revy seemed embarassed about it and clearly didn't want to do it again even in the manga. I'm really not sure how much it was about expressing her deep sexual needs, and I think it was more about money and survival. Revy steals and kills for a living, but she's smart enough to understand that it's not wise to pull off heists in a place like Roanapur if you don't have connections and protection from the top dogs. That was probably her most reasonable option when she didn't work for Dutch yet, and the whipping part only made the job more bearable, I think. But we probably shouldn't read too much into it, BDSM/femdom is a personal fetish of Hiroe's, that's probably the main reason why he made Revy take part in a S&M dance show for a while.
About the rape, it shocked me at first and I hate that scene, but at the same time I think it makes perfect sense and fits well in the story. I wasn't very surprised by what I read and translated there
