We got a taste of it in the Rebuilds since we got to see what Asuka became after prolonged exposure to it in unit 03, and it's probably something they could further elaborate on if they ever do a Eva 2.5 to cover the time between 2.0 & 3.0.imho the original series and manga gave the best glimpses into this, Baridiel's takeover of Toji is harrowing despite what little we see, Armisael was grotesque in the way it mutilated the Eva and spread throughout Rei, ect. Seeing more of that would be neat.

I think the inverse of this would also be very neat. Asuka might talk a big talk, but actually having to go against Shinji might be a little much for her to handle. Likewise, I cant imagine Rei would deal with the conflict of carrying out her orders vs potentially killing the only person who hasnt treated her like a tool.
