Yes, you read that right… twenty-seven years and counting now. I was all of 12 years old.
As you can guess, I’m an Old Generation Otaku, having been raised on Captain Harlock and other types of vintage Animé except I didn’t know it was from Japan until Robotech came along.
If anything, I think I fell in love with Lisa Hayes because Robotech was so unlike anything else on TV, and because Lisa was so complex a character and not horribly 2-dimensional like so many other female characters. Yes, she had her faults, but she was such a *strong* character yet still vulnerable inside. Even more than how she looked, I fell for her character type like the proverbial ton of bricks.
Others like Belldandy of AMG have also come close, but the character of Lisa Hayes will have a spot in my heart for the rest of my life.
