>>4091351I dunno, you have a point, but I wouldn't write off her contributions, just that they're more understated. I mean, she's pretty much the one who's done the lion's share of effort to get Shinji somewhere safe in one piece (between being stuck in space and stuck in an entry plug in a wasteland), and she's very clearly the person who wants Shinji to get better the most, to the point she tries to force recovery on him directly. Her character in the first act of 4.0 presents the challenge that Shinji has to overcome in the second act.
But yeah, the guilt trip thing was a little redundant. I wish they'd followed on Shinji surpassing Asuka's expectations of an apology, and do something more, like have Shinji ask Asuka if there's anything he can do to help keep her safe, to her surprise. Y'know, anything better than just the flat exchange we got instead.
