I guess Haruhi Fujioka is close to a waifu for me, although she's more like a friend. I've grown apart from her recently (I don't even have any decent pics of her on my computer) but she'll always have a place in my heart.
When I first watched Ouran High School Host Club, my personal life was pretty miserable, but seeing the way she reacted to bullying by a bunch of cruel stuck up snobs, and even helped them become better people, attracted me to her character and encouraged me. She's like a close friend who helped me through a hard time.
