>>3457834-It only happened once, days after a confrontation with the same phantom responsible for stealing the memories of her old friend. She experienced a nagging anxiety over the course of several days until she began losing her martial arts abilities. The moment she fell over trying to nail a high kick left her in a state of shock, then emptiness and despair.
It's painful to read that chapter.
-Well, the reason she ended up in that emotional state was because she had her memories stolen by Ruupa, an evil phantom. Except unlike her friend and other people who fell victim to Ruupa it happened over the course of several days.
There is some weird stuff going on but Ruupa's ability is extremely powerful. It can steal the deepest part of people's memories. If that part is taken away from the human brain, which is akin to an illusion projector, the entity being recognized by that memory is lost, and even the memory of the people who recognize them disappears. Just like a falling tree does not make sound in a place where there are no creatures or people, because there is no one to recognize it as such.
By talking with her friend Mai was able to put the pieces together and figure out what was going on. That's why she said "now I understand, this horrible anxiety..." moments before losing her very existence. That's when she took action, grasped her friends hand and told him to take care of things for her. I'm sure her courage during that moment helped her friend defeat Ruupa and save the world.
-Probably when she lost her parents in an accident and was separated from her sister. Having to live without the care of her parents just wouldn't be the same anymore.
