>>3133003I think I somewhat understand.
That, like elves, the physical features are not very important. It's what those physical features imply, which I think is pretty common for many monstergirls.
But other monstergirls have the animals or mythological figures that they draw upon as a basis for these personality traits. Like you said, cyclops girls seem to do a full reversal on them, turning what was a race of man-eating blacksmith giants into the precious creatures that populate these threads. Even the cyclops of Japanese origin seem to be beings of shocking or scary nature, when they aren't even more similar to the one's seen in western depictions,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onihitokuchi. So I can see the reversal is strong, but why a reversal at all? All sense tells me they should have come out like ogres, giant musclegirls with poor manners, but they didn't. Even the fact we call them monoeyes distances them from their mythological roots, something that no other monstergirl archetype to my knowledge does. Most others attempt to frame the characteristics given in a cute or sexy way.
Part of what you said does lead me to believe you are an "eye man" for lack of a better term, mostly how you find the big eye endearing. Would that be a fair assessment?
>>3132621 makes some good points, but the vast majority of the pictures don't really present the eye in a grotesque way, quite the opposite. Although I'm now seeing many more of these pictures in a creepy light, so maybe I just need more time to see it.Thanks for the feedback, here's something from the /jp/ thread I've been lurking.
