I used to collect Alien and Predator figures, when I started collecting anime stuff I just displayed them both anyway. Now I've moved house though, I don't think the Alien stuff is going back up. But yes you should do it, get some good Ritsu's. Figmas are pretty much the best ones you can get; considering their price, quality, availability. You can customise them too. Banpresto statues are nice too if you don't want to spend much and want something small. Take a look around MyFigureCollection, it has basically every anime figure in existence on it. You could find one that suits there.
As for my own K-On merch? I have every figma but Yui (She's too expensive to get new), Kotobukiya 1/8 Mio and Alter 1/7 Ritsu. I also have a tee, a wall scroll, and a couple of their CD's. And a few other miscellaneous things, keychains and whatnot. Couldn't get the 5th anniversary Ritsu unfortunately, Play-Asia absolutely fucked me over on that one.
