I doubt the terminology is the issue here either, it's a conscious decision on their part to differentiate. You can ignore that if you want, but it won't help you.
The problem with Rei Q, is that in a conventional sense, she's a different character. Rei Q doesn't continue Rei, meaning that when discussing Rei, you cannot discuss Rei Q. Rei Q is irrellevant to Rei's character - her thoughts, feelings, motivations, everything.
But within EVA however, Rei is defined differently, and in NGE it was possible for Rei to not only die, but to continue her character through a reincarnation.
Rei Q... doesn't show herself to be such a reincarnation.
It's possible Rebuild changed something regarding the fundamentals of Rei, which would make even Rei Q in-universe, Rei or a part of Rei. But that has not been revealed yet. But above all, they're incompatible as characters even with the in-universe stuff.
I'd like to stress that this is a bad thing for everyone involved.
