I think that, from all the main characters in Evangelion, Asuka got the worst treatment in the RoE movies.
They made her more serious and grumpier for the sake of the story.
By the third movie she was degraded to be Mari's sidekick
And then at the end of the series it was revealed that she's a clone like Rei
And while all other characters got a proper ending, Shiki got stuck in the destroyed world timeline. Hell, at least Misato sacrificed herself to help Shinji save the world, or what was left of it.
Also, she barely got a quick cameo in the last scenes. A literal blink-and.miss-it moment.
But hey, she's not the real Asuka so it's fine, isn't it?
