Of course, it can be a cost-cutting measure, so I guess I need to give them the benefit of the doubt. And I'm pretty forgiving when it's not integrated very well. I haven't seen 'Houseki no Kuni' sorry, but I liked 'Sidonia no Kishi' and that was all 3D. I think it worked well mostly, although some of the animation is a little janky and silted. Maybe it would have worked better as 2D, maybe not. I don't necessarily think that it takes too much away, and it's certainty not a dealbreaker for me.
