>>4195204Eh. I kind of view the HA sex scene as being at least partially a kind of metacommentary on the reception of the original FSN sex scene between the two itself. A lot of people tend to overlook precisely what occurs during the course of that scene and reduce it to but the last few key events, ie. Shirou's being rough with Rin, while somewhat disingenuously glossing over the prior context of that scene, namely Rin's rejecting Shirou's offer of foreplay by way of cunnilingus (among other things). In the end, both bear responsibility for the way things turned out, for ultimately the key cause of the intercourse not going all that well were Rin's insecurities about not performing well enough and Shirou ending up hating her for it, which is precisely why she rejected Shirou's foreplay offer, as it would be his pleasing her, as opposed to her pleasing him... Yeah... Shirou is actually extremely nice and considerate towards Rin throughout, it's really only at the end that he snaps because he just handle the stimulation.
It really frustrates me when people just call him a "rapist" like that, even if I can't help but wince when he says something akin to "You're doing this for the contract, not your own pleasure anyway, right?" when JUST BEFORE THE SCENE ITSELF they had a really cute romantic moment where Shirou expresses disappointment their first time will be over a contract, as opposed to its being an expression of what they feel for one another. It's a terrible good scene, but I do think people gloss over the nuanced characterization sometimes. Either way, what's interesting is the way that Shirou in the HA scene kind of blames himself for what happened, while misremembering that he DID try to engage in foreplay with Rin, who was the one who rejected. I believe it's kind of supposed to reflect how people forget what actually happens in the scene.
