Someone would have to help her to see herself as a wonderful person with friends who care about her, and that person would pretty much have to be Shinji since nobody else is especially kind to her. Maybe he could try finding her a hobby, like playing chess with her or something.
If Shinji isn't around to do that for her, then she might just mope in bed and stop taking her not-fall-apart pills unless Gendo forces Ritsuko to keep her alive for whatever reason. Rei is a strong girl but she really needs someone to take care of her.
