>>3898277>i've recently begun to doubt whether this place has ever been fun to use or if it's always just been 2edgy5u type shit baited up the assHonestly? Both at the same time. If anything I feel like, overall, the place has gotten ever so slightly more mature, more willing to joke around (even things like the Gimiposting in the /f1/ threads) and less 3edgy5u over the last decade or so, and I don't think that's just because I've gotten better at knowing which threads to hop into and which ones to ignore (though I reckon /jp/'s as shit as ever outside of the comfy train stream threads).
The feeling of finding the odd diamond in a sea of shit is still an integral part of 4chan and I don't see that ever changing. Hell, not even the occasional twitter etc incursions are doing much to change that, despite my own best efforts since joining that god-forsaken place. If anything, I feel like, if we were to regress like you said, we'd gain absolutely nothing from it: we're not getting back that odd mixture of novelty, disgust and intrigue that I'm sure we both enjoyed when we first stumbled upon this place, and all we'd really be doing is making it harder to find things worth pursuing here.
