And even to add to it, I've found an almost equal number of claims that "Oira" is used by both females and males, but the common consensus is that it's merely an informal slang. I wouldn't be one to care about the word of westerners over japanese grammar.
The impasse over Nanachi's gender, especially by being revelead on Twitter, was a pretty big smart move by Tsukushi, as it certainly created "free advertising" by the hands of the twitter folks themselves, but at the end of the day, I don't really care either; ultimately, it's just more convenient for the thread to be on /c/ than on /cm/, you at least gotta admit that.
