>>3799666>every one but the last oneYeah, sounds about right. I've been on twitter for a fair few years now and it's honestly only been getting more and more miserable in recent times. It's exhausting to deal with, so much so that I still only follow about 40 people (excluding things like lists for artists and so on) and haven't followed anyone new in almost a year.
Even if, across the board, things skewed more towards positivity, it would probably still be very needlessly stressful for a lot of people. It can often only take one or two shitty remarks (from people you know you shouldn't be listening to) to sour your mood and make you less willing to put up with the whole learning process, especially if you have other stressful factors to deal with in your life. The pandemic certainly hasn't helped matters either.
Sadly, I'm not sure I'm any better than those miserable hostile sops. I have a very hard time giving anyone any sort of praise because it's never come naturally to me, and that's only made worse by having spent the vast majority of my life in a former communist country defined by its unwarranted elitism and its dim view of art as a whole, both of which I inherited and had to fight to unlearn in my early 20s. It's still not as easy to support people (especially artists) as I would like, but understanding how important that support is to them has helped a lot in that regard.
