But let's say the Extraspecies Exchange Laws are in effect and extraspecies people harming humans and vice versa is illegal. In that case, Miia would still take the verbal abuse they'd most likely give her very poorly. She'd grit her teeth and bear it but it would make her want to cry.

For Miia, there are laws prohibiting extraspecies people and humans from physically harming each other, but there have been ways where both sides have attempted to circumvent this law for their own gain. Miia got bullied by humans actually.
