And if it was Shinji's own will that brought him out, who wouldn't want to live eternally with their Mother? Especially since Shinji had no negative or abusive memories of Yui. It seemed like the Ultimate Choice. Maybe Shinji rejected Yui like he rejected Rei/Instrumentality. In both cases it could be interpreted as Shinji/Anno rejecting Death/Suicide.
