>>4259653Overall I do think that Rei is arguably the most tragic of the main three girls in the series, since at least Misato had some experience with love and what it felt like to be happy when she was with Kaji, and Asuka seems to be able to get past her trauma regarding her mother and become her own person in all three versions of the story, while Rei basically is birthed from nothing, is propped around like a marionette to do the bidding of others, and then goes back to nothing at the end, and that's true for pretty much all three main "loops" of the story to varying degrees, though at least in the Rebuild conclusion perhaps she gets to grow into her own person and find someone she loves in the Village.
It's strange to think that if she eventually found a husband and had kids in the decades following the events of 3.0 + 1.0 that her child would technically be the half brother of Shinji, since her DNA is just Yui's and Adam's spliced and intermingled together.
