>>2346096I like the blue one more, but you're clearly exaggerating.
Like I said there's nothing as quite negative or damaging in 2.0 like you suggest, given that it does have development and backing. You can't treat Rei like a static thing, if the story and circumstances change, then obviously Rei will change too. Your image of the "warrior rei" doesn't disappear in 2.0, the spear wasn't even until introduced later in the show either.
You also miss the point entirely of the character if you think she actually IS a stone-cold warrior and nothing more, there's a tragic past and an emotional core in the character that can't be neglected.
Everything in due time - by the end of 2.0 the continuation is set up for greatness in the character, with even the perfect excuse to do a NGE-style "mind exploration" since Rei is now trapped in some non-tangible space which what gave rise to trippy situations.
With NERV and Tokyo-3 destroyed and conflicts on the rise, you have the perfect opportunity to bring in the rest of the character.
The facts are also, that if Rei wouldn't be capable of change, then she wouldn't be Rei. Because that's what Rei does, she adapts, learns and gives back. Had Rei remained static after 2.0, the character would simply be less realistic and less meaningful. Rei is what she is for a reason, and that background is not a positive one.
