I'm translating atm, learning edition and so on because I want Rei to have quality content and for such content to be accessible to any Reifriend around who truly cares for her character beyond a mere superficial appeal.
I don't know about other global languages like Chinese or Russian, but in Spanish every other Rei-related page seems infested with Asukafag shitposting, Rei Q ("becooz black suit hot"), stupid memes that ain't even funny, and shit-tier porn (usually violent), like a dystopic "zomg teh rei" hangover. Discussion rarely goes beyond fapping to anything blue-haired and there's a fixation in portraying Rei as a mindless doll whom you can enslave and abuse at will. When such pages amass thousands of followers, damage is clearly done.
Whether they're retarded teens trying to be edgy or the worst kind of escapist otaku, I don't care. I'll combat them, wherever they are.
Rei matters to me. They don't get to spread such crap while claiming to be Rei fans or to love Rei. They clearly don't. But I do, and I'll defeat them, creating/sharing/translating/spreading good quality content on the way. That's the least I can do for Rei.
