>>2115482>the only way we have to read tone over the Net is through the context of vocabulary and punctuation. That's also why we give others the benefit of the doubt. Look at what guessing what others may or may not have thought or meant. It just creates confusion, and off-topic discussion. I didn't overreact or accuse you anything, I was objective and on-topic regarding Rei. Don't read so much into it. I hope we can stop this here.
>Namely, that each entity known as Ayanami Rei is a separate entity, capable of self-determination and making her own choices.Well, I'm not so sure about that you see. How separate are they? Canonically, it's the same "individual" (soul) going through three different bodies. Originally Lilith, but then Lilith became Rei I, then Rei II, then Rei III. Then Lilith again.
In a broader perspective, they're the same entity in EVA's universe. What you can say however, that her personality and mindset changes, but always due to the extreme trauma involved in dying and being reincarnated.
She isn't simply just a clone, you see. The clones in the tank at NERV, they are spare parts for Rei, not a Rei of their own.
>She's an anime character. My point still stands. Speculation about her isn't going to lead to initiating Third Impact. Lighten up, Rei doesn't need a White Knight to protect her virtue and honor.I'm not intending to be a white knight, I'm also intending to speculate which means I'm also in need of pointing out faulty speculation, like I believe I did. As for demeaning, yes that is important and not for white knight reasons. I think any work of art, and fictional characters, should be viewed in a way which is most flattering to them. As far as possible, whichever retelling and speculation which gives the character merit should be adopted. Simply believing that Rei would not do x or y based on meh speculation, is demeaning, but not in the way you think.
