As for the other, Chihaya's got gremlins or w/e. They can take over solid state memory but they can't touch optical or magnetic storage, making CDs and tapes safe.
She probably had one as a kid she never got rid of. I still have both my discmans in my closet, and I probably have my R2D2 walkman in the garage/various other storage spots.
