Of course you shouldn't take her as cartoon villain who like to eat babies, but you also shouldn't deny these other aspects(wanting to keep Madoka close, preference for desires over order)and make it seem like these things don't exist, or that she's only pretending. That makes the developments in the movie mean nothing, which makes things kind of boring.
