>>4412444If Gendo gave her the plush, she'd probably be ecstatic. He was the first in showing effection towards Rei. I guess since Shinji is like his father, it's quite easy to understand him. So for Rei it was like a younger Gendo without the part of him seeing her as a means to further his goals. There was a point in the show where I wished it would focus on Rei and Gendo since there was more chemistry between the two. Shinji just got that annoying.
