Well, I think it's just a funny joke, but being serious on the topic and NOT taking pokanami into consideration, I think that Rei is a smart and able girl, she sure can read a cookbook but she's a total acetist and nothing about her is hedonistic.
So I believe she'd cook you a very simple and somewhat bland but filling meal, almost like soldier's food. In some way she's treating herself as if she was a soldier and when they all went for ramen she ordered the simpliest one and was eating it fast without savouring any of it.
