The worst of these is that the individual attempts to augment their reality with delusions of grandeur culminating with the belief that they will be found by their one true love or one true friend.
It's all sophistry. The worst part is that the individual can't be straightened out by mere talk. They have to be slowly drawn out with interaction by their peers.
Unfortunately, during the teen years it's near nigh impossible and nearly implausible due to the fact that teenagers are the most self-centered creatures on the planet. Lots of changes (both physically and mentally), simply don't allow for adjustment as well as caring for others.
While there are a few individuals who are nurtured and another lot that simply are "rainy day people", there aren't very many of them.
