All art you see here is exclusively informed by modern conventions that were created in Europe or the United States. I cannot fathom how anyone can look at an image like this, which is drawn in a Beatrix Potter-style and depicts Western clothing and architecture and not see the reality. In my experience, it's only Westerners who actually think this is something that is obscured or ambiguous.
