There's fully open source mobile OS like CyanogenMod, LineageOS, Replicant, etc; but most people just shrug and put up with getting fucked because it's the path of least resistance. Very, very few people value privacy and muh freedums/muh libre over the convenience of an OS that 'just werks'. Which isn't at all unexpected as smartphones are far on the convenience end of the convenience vs privacy sliding scale. At least you can still get an old school Japanese schoolgirl flip phone if you like.
For now, anyway.
