I don't know quite what it is, but something about the anime's opening song brings up such vivid emotion when I listen to it. I can't tell if the song reminds me of what I felt watching Lain, or if what I felt watching Lain simply became associated with it because it played before every episode. Whichever it is, it was such an incredible choice. There's such a strong, somber aesthetic about it.
