Also, if written as 月日, Tsukihi could also mean "time". Fits well with her siblings names which are also time related. The kanji making up Araragi are are 阿 (Corner or Shade), 良 (Good) and 木 (Tree). The tree in particular is interesting as her brother was able to transform into one and there are two characters that are bound together via the 木 kanji.
