In Smash threads, nowadays she is insulted for being low-tier in Smash. People will ALWAYS rag on her for that. If it's for a different smash game, especially melee, people call her baby's first main. Essentially, they say she is too easy to learn for how high-tier she is. Outside of Ice Climbers and Jigglypuff, she is the character they like to disrespect the most in actual games.
In non-Smash threads, some assholes will insist she is a man. I hate it and I hate thinking about it. My Sheik is not a man and will never be. Fuck the fools who were tricked into thinking she was a man when they played OoT as a child, but never let go of that delusion when the truth was revealed. Nintendo is not pushing that kind of agenda in a major game of theirs in 1998. She is not a symbol for that shit. Stop thinking she is. Just because she made you feel confused when you were young and your hormones were a mess, doesn't mean that she is what you think she is. To those who will point to one of the wikis as evidence, I would like to point out that the wiki is run by westerners who probably went exactly through what I suggested. If a wiki is evidence of that, then I would like to direct your attention to a certain Silent Hill wiki in which some crazy person took over it and made every article about circumcision. Yes, there is a wiki that takes a game that has nothing to do with that and writes long articles that everything in the game is a subtle reference to it. If you use one of the Zelda wikis as evidence as Sheik being a man, I will use this example as my go to one in dispelling it's credibility.
Finally, some even more uninformed people will just say that she is Zelda in disguise and derail the conversation to post her. My Sheik should not take second fiddle to a girl who already gets a ton of attention.
Needless to say that I haven't had much fun discussing her outside of here.
