Not any of the other anons above, but I've used MDR-v6's for mixing in the past and due to circumstances I'm just using your standard $30 sennheisers right now. They're plenty good sound quality wise; with careful listening I can do music/audio stuff just as well as with the MDR's. My only gripe is that they're considerably less comfy, anything completely over-ear with velour pads just feels too good.
Not saying nicer stuff isn't nicer, just that good low-tier stuff is totally workable and price differences aren't often going to reflect the improvements in performance you're going to get. Upgrading from lowest of the low tier to mid tier is great and all; any higher and you risk paying way too much for something that isn't going to sound noticeably better.
