Not sure if it's a good sign that no one else replied, but I'll take it as an affirmative to the rambling.
As for the gym thing, yes, that's how I figure it is. It feels like that's how people act regardless of where you go so it makes it impossible to connect with them. Someone could have hammered it into my head that school wasn't about the education but the connections.
