The rebuilds fuck over everyone, Rei AND Asuka, it's only seen as Asukafag pandering because Asukafags notice less the erased depth of her character because they do not care as much. This is not true of all Asukafags, but when it is brought up yes it is true of most. But to say the rebuilds do not disservice Asuka is as much bullshit as it is to say the rebuilds do not disservice Rei. But there are clearly Rei fans here who also only like Rei and/or Evangelion for superficial reasons (ie
