I know, that anime had a lot of bad comments, but still manga is one of the best I've read. Anime just had too many strange/crazy fillers and was balancing on a thin line between having fun and beeing trolled. By mecha tamas and ghosts...

Love Hina was my first manga (the anime was terrible!), I think I read it for the first time when I was 14-15. And I've made a habit of reading it once a year to feel the bittersweet nostalgia.

2 months ago, my friend (who's a 6'2'' tall martial artist, he looks like someone who would start a fight with you in broad daylight without provocation) asked me out of the blue what was the deal with Love Hina (I often refer to a great nostalgia as a "Love Hina-feeling") and what it was (he has never read manga before). I explained what it was and offered to lend him my manga volumes. To make a long story short, he was very touched by the manga. And hunted down all the manga volumes and paid quite much for a whole set (he read it in swedish, our native language. And wanted the set in swedish as well. And a whole set is quite rare nowadays here). And I want to believe that he has become a more affectionate person because of that very manga.

So I learned that Love Hina doesn't only appeal to 14 year old boys, but also 22 year old men.

Ah, good to see you two here.
I also had my first contact with Love Hina somewhere around 14 (was in junior high back then). To be honest i was looking for some hentai to watch, and somehow I found Love Hina Sim Date RPG. After playing a bit i was curious about it so I found anime and manga. Now I'm 23 and still like to read it. I also watch anime from time to time.
BTW, greetings from the other side of the Baltic Sea!

And yes, mecha tamas were cool (sometimes), but totally unnecessary. Manga had a lot of good scenes that hadn't been used in anime. But on the other hand we have something "new" (12 yrs old anime/manga) in the story.

One more thing. Both Naru and Mokoto are, in my opinion, way better in manga version. They just seem nicer.
Rest of the cast is at the same level - perfect.

Mutsumi was mai first waifu. Love Hina was hardly my first anime or even my first favorite, but it was the first one I really fell in love with and it really got me into the romantic comedy genre. Unfortunately most of them aren't nearly as good as Love Hina, and I've moved on to other shows since, but I still check out the art book I purchased every now and then. : ) I rarely buy merchandise so the fact that I have an art book for the show at all reminds me how much I liked it. The manga is definitely superior, but the art for the anime is just too nice to not watch it.

I loved the manga, i read it when i was 13 yrs old and i instantly felt in love with Naru, lol. I still love it, and i re-read it now and then. Akamatsu did a great job, and the finale is amazing.
than i watched the anime, and it kinda disappointed me. Maybe they didn't got enough money, dunno. It's just bad, compared to the manga. Someone has to make a 'love hina the animation' nowdays, with lot of money and modern animation techniques . And it has to be more loyal to the original plot. pleaseeeeeeee...?

Got a weird double-dose of nostalgia when I came across this thread. I used to watch Love Hina when I was in a weird, shut-in state back in school. Actually made video CD just so I could avoid my family and watch it on my Dreamcast back in my room. Brings back odd, yet fun memories.

Recently I traveled down to Texas with a close friend and partied like crazy. Somehow, when we returned to his loft apartment to crash for the night, I found a random volume of the Love Hina manga. Woke up the next day with some weird fort constructed out of blankets and the book on the floor next to me. I read it cover to cover and then continued partying that night.

Shit...so much nostalgia.

This one is based on "Journey to the West" by Wu Cheng'en, right? Dragon Ball was also based on that story. Thats why the monkey character was named Goku. I guess.

Ah Love Hina, like many on this thread I have fond memories of it. The manga is generally superior except for the Christmas Episode.

Also, I can't be the only one that looked at Keitaro and thought "Hey, he wound up happy, there is still a chance for me!"
