i've never been that much into anime, but when i found out this existed i watched it and read the manga in a like three days, i was so hooked. I especially liked the following aspects of usagi drop:
-the main character is old and somewhat experienced, he doesnt wimp out about small matters
-the MC sacrifices his way of living for her, expecting nothing in return.
-he goes through everyday hardships, and the general tone of the anime is a somber one, not many of those over-the-top comedic situations
-rin, when grown up, decides to live to provide for the MC, an act of love and a way of saying thanks for being cared for. this selfless, yet natural way of expressing love by both the MC and rin is what touched me the most
-the ending was morally and psychologically fucked up, and i think usagi drop wouldve been better without it, yet i appreciated it for fulfilling a small "wishfull-thinking-urge", if that makes any sense. sadly, it breaks with the realistic understone the anime set before. also, the whole decision happened way too quickly and seemed rushed
when i was done i desperately tried to fill the void with other animes with similar topics, believing that, since i had watched little to no anime before, there would be some substitute for this feeling of love i got from usagi drop. i watched the first few episodes of a dozen recommended animes on animelist, which are supposed to be similar, but to no avail so far. im quite sad about that
