The anime is a VN adaptation that is essentially an Sol/comedy until critical parts of each girl's route and the very end of the novel. Honestly, the VN should be read before watching the anime, but that's generally the case with all VN adaptations. If it's been too slow for you up until this point, it probably won't get much better from your prospective.
