>>2086970Hey, she's nothing like the Redheaded Oni, I assure you. And in all fairness, she's dyed her hair blue plenty of times. She seems to have a penchant for trying out alternate colors, and I'm happy to support said experimentation.
I never really got the big kerfuffle over Q, tbh. Granted, in all fairness, I haven't had a chance to watch Rebuild yet either. But considering Ayanami is, for all intensive purposes, a mobile soul/consciousness capable of being transplanted into cloned mortal shells (This is, incidentally, where we got the Dummy Plug System from, iirc) I don't see how Q isn't just one more variation on how Rei could have turned out. If you'll notice, Rei I, II, and III all have their own quirks and personality differences. Rei I was innocent, but she had a touch of snarkiness to her, which resulted in her stangling at the hands of the good Doctor Naoko. Rei II and III were similar, but if you paid attention, you could still tell them apart. It was, after all, Rei III that finally decided to resist our Uberpimp himself in EoE. *Cue "It's Gendou"*
But really, the whole Q Debacle seems trivial. It's like griping about Rei I being snarky to Naoko with "Rei would never do that. Therefore, she's not Rei." Whenever I've seen people mention Q, my mind just replaces it with Rei IV. It's a lot better than trying to understand the griping and bitching.
This is not to say that Q doesn't stray from the Rei Paradigm, but if she came from the same Reiquarium the others did, and was awakened via the same process, I see little to seperate her from the rest of the Ayanami's, personality aside.
On a side note, Asuka has her own draws, but she's got WAY too many issues to work through, imo, for that attraction to be a viable one. Her vulnerability, her insecurity, and her tendency to wall herself off from others as a form of protection are just to name a few. And Freud would have a field day with that Overcompensation Complex.
Take your time on the pic. No rush.
