>>2306061I'm sure everyone has felt that way about their favourite character at least once at some point.
A lot of people here want to have exclusive knowledge of a character or series, because they feel the mainstream will corrupt, commercialise or otherwise besmirch these things that they hold dear, since the mainstream won't be able to match the level of appreciation they have for them. I don't know whether that's selfishness or not.
On the one hand sharing ideas is a good thing, on the other hand I agree with Matthew 7:6 (""Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.")
Little known things becoming widely known is a natural process, as is the corruption of the original idea during this process.
On the surface, that's a horrible thing, but on the other, there's always the comfort knowing that the people who find out about the idea after its spread will only know the corrupted side of it unless they express the resolve to search deeper and engage with it on the same level as the original followers.
If that doesn't comfort you, then you still know that just as old ideas get spread and corrupted, novel and fresh ones are always appearing as well. The solution is merely to stay in front of the crowd and enjoy things while they are still in their native, pure state.
