A conspiracy is spreading like a wildfire in nigeria, that Ebola is a evil invention of the western coutries. To blame is a drawn picture that illustrates the embodiment of the ebola virus. It shows a white woman in a nurse uniform, who holds a skull. Blood is dripping out of this skull. Her hairs look like a microscope-capture of pathogen. The name of the manga-woman: Ebola-Chan.
This picture appeared for the first time in august on the website 4chan, according to the newssite Vocativ. Beside the picture is written: "You have been visited by the Ebola-Chan of Pestilence & Death. Excrutiating pain and death will come to you unless you post an "I love you Ebola-chan!" in this thread"
The picture found its way in to the nigerian forum "Nairaland". There a user wrote "There is a new Racist culture in Europe and the USA. They hate Africa. They worship a Ebola-Demon which they call Ebola-Chan." Below that the unknown posted pictures which can be indicative of a ebola-chan altar.
Especially in rural regions the help of aides in blue protective suits is seen sceptical. Last Friday, eight employees have been lynched by an angry mob in Guinea.
