Try Kurahashi Riko from Love Lab. She's pretty tomboyish, is not as "cool headed" as Yui, but plays the same "serious" part in the comedy duo of the series. Or Hiiragi Kagami from Lucky Star. Not exactly tomboyish, but there's plenty of "cool headed" to compensate.

Yui Ichii from Yuyushiki is actually pretty similiar. Her relationship with Yukari and Yuzu reminds me of Yui's and Kyouko's friendship (but a lot more adorable).
