He spent a lot of time spamming Lainchan in /g/ in order to get people to visit it. As a result, most of its users don't have much attachment to Lain. It doesn't have an actual Lain board for one.
kalyx is an asshole - he removes his staff at will for no good reason, doesn't interact with the users much (and when he does it's not usually for a good reason).
There are nice people that still use the site, but kalyx in particular is bad news.
The attached image is of questionable origin, so I wouldn't call it gospel, but it really wouldn't surprise me seeing as I've seen first hand what he's like.
There are great places to meet hardcore Lain fans though; 8ch's /lain/ (sadly quite inactive),
mebious.co.uk, a few pretty active Lain IRC channels, and of course these threads here.
