if the anime was episodic, telling a single story, I would have to go with this

Like a whole WW2-like sequence where we see them fighting with actual fire-arms and getting super violent until we get to the "modern" era with a change of tone, could follow the old Admiral as he finds a Splatoon championship and tries to convince the two best inklings to join his cause and hilarity ensues.
Otherwise, if each episode could be its own story, I would want every episode to be a parody of military movies, like platoon, saving private ryan, only with ink and going to the extra mile to be as dramatic as possible. Could be fun.
