Plus Tomo was basically walking sex, but I still think Sakaki's better.
Both Yomi and Nyamo are similar since they have to deal with their jealous and obnoxious friends. That's just how the bake and tsukkomi system works.
As for Kimura, his creepy presence is what made him hilarious. Sure, I might have been weirded out a bit but he did get a few laughs out of me. Same with Tomo and Yukari. Without those 3, Azumanga would be a lot less energetic, and not to mention Yomi would be a bore. Also, without Kimura Kaorin wouldn't have gotten as much screentime either and would have played a more background character in the manga.
