September has begun; leaves are beginning to show the faintest hints of yellow, as they start displaying the color they inherited from the fading summer sun.

I like to imagine the fall as a season that's legendary to Homura. Having spent over a hundred loops (at least five, if you only include the events shown in the anime) in the spring and nascent summer, she probably romanticized the fall and winter as times signifying her ultimate victory.
